Two
New Englanders have been selected for the National Officials Development
Program. Matt Reigert (Vt) and
Jeremy Lovett (NH) have signed contracts for the coming season in the USA
Hockey National Officials Development Program. Both Matt and Jeremy were officials in the
New England Hockey Festival for several years and were selected to represent the
district in USA Hockey national officiating summer camps.
The
USA Hockey Development Program was created in conjunction with the Junior
Council to identify, recruit, train, educate, assign, supervise and promote our
top young officials. The program was started with cooperation of the US Hockey
League (USHL), Minnesota Junior Hockey League (MJHL) and the America West Hockey
League (AWHL). In the three years since its creation it has expanded to include
cooperation with East Coast Hockey League (ECHL), Central Hockey League (CHL),
West Coast Hockey League (WCHL), United Hockey League (UHL), North American
Hockey League (NAHL) and Western Pro Hockey League (WPHL) and it continues to
expand. To date there have been over 60 officials who have advanced from the
program to Division I and pro hockey assignments.
Matt
will be working as a Referee in the MJHL, USHL, NAHL and the AWHL. Matt will be
working out of Omaha, Nebraska. Jeremy will be working as a linesman in the same
leagues with possible assignments in the UHL and the WCHL. Jeremy will be
working out of Des Moines, Iowa. Matt and Jeremy will be working between 60 and
90 assignments this coming season.
We,
as members and staff of the New England District wish both Matt and Jeremy the
very best within the program and in their future as officials. I am sure you
join us in wishing them the best.
